OCR engine changes
- The engine recognises the Euro symbol and accented characters(
version 2 characters
). (This depends on the licence you have installed. If you have a standard licence installed then you will get a 100 A4 page trial of the higher characters, after which the OCR engine will revert to recognising only the
version 1 characters
).
- Licences are additive. If you purchase two or more licences you can run two or more OCR engines in parallel.
- Lex processing now supports Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish without the need to specify the language in advance.
- Because licences are additive the TOCRGetLicenceInfo routine has been superseded by TOCRGetLicenceInfoEx.
- The engine is more accurate and stable. Accuracy when Lex processing is turned off has been greatly enhanced.
Viewer program changes
- Text results can be positioned to reflect the image.
- The viewer program should now work on multibyte machines.

OCR engine changes
- Two new functions have been added. TOCRGetResultsEx returns extended information on results.
TOCRConvertFormat supersedes TOCRConvertTIFFtoDIB and can return a memory mapped file.
- A minimum of 25 DPI has been introduced to avoid using up all the 100 A4 limit in one go when a file with badly set resolutions is OCR'd.
- The engine is now more stable and has been re-optimised to increase accuracy.
Viewer program changes
- Changed to use TOCRConvertFormat to avoid using temporary files.
- Batch processing options have been enhanced and are now saved in the registry.
- The results window pane is now a textbox to allow editing.
- There are extra buttons on the Processing options page to make disabling characters easier.
- The ability to change the image DPI has been added.

- A new facility has been added to allow "exact" position reporting of characters found on a page.
